African Elephant The largest land mammal weighing on average 3500kg and measuring 4.5m tall with tusks weighing up to 70kg each and can charge at 40 km/h. The largest recorded weight was 12000 kg.
Least Dwarf Shrew The smallest land mammal measuring 4.5cm long - and that's approx half body and half tail.
Giraffe The tallest creature, attaining a height of 5.5m and can run at speeds of up to 55 km/h. The female average weight is 800kg and the male 1200kg
Buffalo A very large animal, weighing up to 790kg with horns growing up to 1.5m and considered to be one of the most dangerous animals in Africa
Kori Bustard The heaviest flying bird. The male averages about 110cm in length, stands up to 90 cm tall, has a wingspan up to 275 cm and weighs up to 20kg.
Cheetah The fastest mammal with estimated speeds of up to 114kph, accelerating at 20m/s
Eland The largest antelope. Bulls weigh up to 1000kg, stand 1.8m at the shoulder and measure 3.5m from the snout to the base of the tail.
Whale Shark The largest fish which can grow up to 12.5m long and weigh more than 21000kg
Ostrich The largest bird weighing up to 130kg. They have a long neck and legs which keep their head up to 2.75m above the ground, with the biggest eyeballs measuring 5cm across which can see you coming from far away, and they run up to 69kph. So watch out!
The star of the show 'Santjie' the sharp-nosed frog In May 1977 she broke the world frog jumping record by leaping 10.2m over a course of 3 consecutive leaps.
Wonderboom A Wild Willowleaf Fig tree. At approx 1000 years old 'The 'Wonder Tree's' branches have rooted themselves around the mother tree and now cover an area of 50m
The Sagole Baobab Tree The largest succulent in the world with a 10.47m stem diameter, 22m height, 38.2m crown spread and well over 2,000 years old.
Cango Caves The longest underground cave sequence of glittering stalagmite and stalactite caverns in the world.
The Vredefort Dome Home of the largest visible meteorite impact crater on earth with a diameter of roughly 300 km and dating back some 2000 million years.
'Eve's Footprint' A 117,000 year-old, anatomically modern, human footprint, found in a rock in the Western Cape.
